This article explains possible reasons why location tracking may not work on a child’s iOS device. It describes the settings and conditions required for the feature to function correctly, such as enabling location services, having an internet connection, and disabling power-saving or airplane mode.
If your child’s iOS device is in Power saving mode or airplane mode, location tracking will be disabled. For the location tracking feature to work correctly, please make sure the device is online, the location option is enabled and the device is not in battery saving mode.
In addition, we suggest checking the following:
1. Please check that the permission for Location tracking was given:
Go to the Settings app on the child's device and choose Privacy > Location Services. Find Kidslox in the list and tap on it. Make sure the toggle close to Precise location is set to the "On" position and permissions are set to “Always”.
2. Verify that you have a cellular or Wi-Fi network connection. This allows the Assisted GPS (A-GPS) on the device to locate visible GPS satellites faster, in addition to providing initial location information using the Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
Please note that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position, until the GPS satellites are visible again.
3. Ensure the date, time, and time zone are correctly set on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use ‘Set Automatically’.
Besides, the map(inside the app) may show lines with the places a child did not pass. This is possible because of the not constant connection of GPS (the reasons were described above). Therefore, if the connection was lost for a while it may draw a straight line from the last moment when the connection was great and after the reconnection of GPS + Internet.
