If your child’s iOS device is in Power saving mode or airplane mode, location tracking will be disabled. For the location tracking feature to work correctly, please make sure the device is online, the location option is enabled and the device is not in battery saving mode.
In addition, we suggest checking the following:
1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
Make sure that Location Services is on. (scroll down to find the app)
2. Verify that you have a cellular or Wi-Fi network connection. This allows the Assisted GPS (A-GPS) on the device to locate visible GPS satellites faster, in addition to providing initial location information using the Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
Please note that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position, until the GPS satellites are visible again.
3. Ensure the date, time, and time zone are correctly set on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use ‘Set Automatically’.
4. Precise Location should be ON (for devices that run iOS 14).
Besides, the map(inside the app) may show lines with the places a child did not pass. This is possible because of the not constant connection of GPS (the reasons were described above). Therefore, if the connection was lost for a while it may draw a straight line from the last moment when the connection was great and after the reconnection of GPS + Internet.
